Digital manipulation for adidas and Sony

- Adidas originally sponsored power soccer 1 but were not interested in power soccer 2 so I had to retouch out any references to them. Then they saw the packaging and wanted back in! Hence they are only featured in the corner with their logo and not on the boots, as there wasn’t enough lead-time between them buying in and us going to print for me to reinstall all the adidas references!
The transparency shows the original photoshoot. The leg was a mannequin leg that I was swinging in (you can see my hand behind the knee) with a long shutter time to get the movement on to the transparency. The crowd was a painted backdrop and the pitch was a slab of turf… when you know it shatters the illusion somewhat!
An awful lot of retouching in Photoshop was required as the boots were too far from the ball. These were cut out and moved and angled closer together and then the backgrounds were cloned back in. The colours and saturation of the image have been enhanced. I then had to create the logo, on the sole of the boot, which used the texture from the studs cloned and coloured to give the plastic feel. Then a lot of airbrush work to get the white plastic soles. Overall, I was very pleased with the execution and final product – it would have been nicer to reinstate the adidas logos on to the boots but time was, unfortunately, against us!
